ISRAEL Accused of INTIMIDATION & TERROR as Ceasefire Talks Fail!

Right, so for as much as Israel has been trying and failing to invade Lebanon and with a few stories going around that Israel are already giving up on this ill thought through idea, it hasn’t stopped them and the US from applying pressure to a Lebanese government that has wanted a ceasefire, however the way that Israel and the US, because of course they have to be involved have been conducting themselves from the perspective that Israel are in a position to bargain, but not only are they acting like they have Lebanon on the ropes, which they demonstrably do not, the offer the US and Israel have put to Lebanon in effect demands their unconditional surrender, not just militarily, but of their own sovereignty as well. It is off the charts delusional, but when you consider who the US sent to negotiate, frankly the worst person they could possibly sent, this was clearly never intended to be an act of mutual understanding and compromise, but as Lebanon themselves have said, the talks have not been about ceasefire and compromise, but instead they accuse the US and Israel of intimidation and terror.
Right, so over the course of the last week there have been, despite the ongoing attempts to invade Lebanon by Israel, negotiations happening between the two states to try and reach a resolution to the situation they are now in, with Hezbollah having come to the aid of Gaza following the night of October 7th, after Israel invaded land they already occupy and all of the genocide we’ve borne witness to ever since.
Despite the failing ground invasion, copious numbers of airstrikes by Israel are taking their toll on Lebanon, especially as Beirut comes under consistent attack, having essentially begun when Israel assassinated the deputy chair of Hamas’ political bureau Saleh al-Arouri back in January of this year in an apartment building in Beirut. There have been many such attacks on civilian areas in Lebanon since, apartment blocks levelled, six of them notably in order to assassinate the Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, the disregard for civilian life by the Israeli armed forces once again made clear and obvious to the world.
Clearly, the desire to bring an end to all of the aggression should be what everyone is after, clearly Lebanon were open to this by agreeing to enter into talks with Israel and the US, however it has now become obvious and blatant that this is not what they wanted at all, now standing accused by the nation they entered into talks with of intimidation and terror.
Central to this situation is the US involvement, doubtless to many of you watching this coming as little surprise. I’ve made several videos regarding Israeli ceasefire talks and the fact that at certain points in those talks the US Biden administration seems to inevitably send US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to attend those talks, but which always seems to herald the kiss of death to any success as the moment he turns up, everything falls apart. That actually has more to do with Benjamin Netanyahu changing the remit of his negotiators to ensure the talks collapse, noy wishing for any end of his war in Gaza at all, his government only staying afloat and intact as a coalition for as long as he is waging war, but as it turns out, for anyone who might have thought a dual US-Israeli citizen like Antony Blinken was the worst person the US could send anyway, apologist for literally anything Israel have done as he appears to be, there is at least one guy who is significantly worse and he’s proven it with his contributions towards convincing Lebanon to down tools and bring an end to Hezbollah’s actions against Israel.
The person in question is a guy called Amos Hochstein and as you might rightly surmise, with a name like that, he is indeed Jewish, but more than that, this Deputy Assistant to Joe Biden and Senior Advisor for Energy and Investment – hardly the remit of a negotiator you would imagine, though he does have a past record as a special envoy – is himself Israeli. Amos Hochstein was born in Jerusalem in 1973, he is the son of American Jewish immigrants to Israel, but and it is an important but, he is not a dual citizen, he is Israeli. He even served in the IDF as all Israeli’s must, he was a tank crewman in the 1990’s, so actually his involvement, his even setting foot in Lebanon, given their visa restrictions on admitting anyone from Israel on permanent or temporary measures is a measure of how willing Lebanon were to take talks seriously, but also risked the US causing actually some significant insult by of all people, sending Hochstein and it only got worse from there.
By sending Hochstein, the US had no willingness, no real desire to truthfully engage in bringing about a ceasefire, by sending an Israeli protected by US diplomatic status, it’s an insult, it’s insincere and pretty much just nails on that as far as the US goes, Israel still even now, can do what it likes and such is the pressure they will exert diplomatically, if we can even call this that, because if it isn’t a deal that goes avowedly Israel’s way, then they won’t be interested and actually it gives an insight into US sincerity in other peace talks as well, even aside from Netanyahu’s ongoing sabotage attempts. A more inappropriate negotiator, the US frankly couldn’t have sent, but what he put forward, what he put to Lebanon by way of resolution, was not only completely unserious and inappropriate, it was, in true Israeli fashion, an attempt at a land grab, not at gun point but over the negotiators table.
Now, as I’ve spoken about in other videos, the border between Israel and Lebanon is maintained and the peace is kept due to United Nations Resolution 1701, which is a very simple resolution to understand, it simply says that it calls for the immediate cessation of hostilities by both sides, and required the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon, with only the Lebanese Armed Forces and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) authorised to deploy to the area. It also calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah.
In other words, the disarmament issue aside, which clearly has not been resolved, Lebanese armed forces and the UN peacekeepers are allowed to remain in and patrol the area south of the Litani river in Lebanon down as far as the border with Israel, also called the Blue Line. Israel is forbidden from crossing the Blue Line, that it has done so repeatedly over the last month since it began it’s attempted invasion of Lebanon and has actually done so some 30,000 times since Resolution 1701 was put in place notwithstanding.
Hochstein however has gone into these negotiations saying resolution 1701 is no longer fit for purpose and must change and the changes he wants makes it look like Israel are holding all the cards, rather than getting their backsides kicked on the ground, with their airstrikes eliciting tit for tat retaliation from Lebanon rendering the north of Israel unsafe to live in, displacing 100,000 Israelis, though equally this is happening in southern Lebanon as well.
The US and Israel, instead of negotiating an agreement to abide by a UN passed resolution, have entered into the negotiations with Lebanon saying there will be no agreement over returning to resolution 1701, that it is unfit for purpose and again I point you to the simplicity of the wording, and that it is a thing of the past and must be redrawn and Hochstein very helpfully I’m sure put forward his proposal for said changes, but as you can imagine a new resolution 1701 drawn up by an Israeli that benefits Israel went down like cold sick.
So what are the amendments Hochstein wants on behalf of his own nation as well as the one he works for?
Well he went to Israel before heading to Beirut for these talks to get his instructions and Israel functionally wants to be able to continue to operate within Lebanon to carry out what they call ‘active enforcement’ regarding getting Hezbollah to disarm. They also want Hezbollah to remove themselves from the area south of the Litani river completely. Israel also wants the Lebanese army and UNIFIL to disperse from their border positions. To all intents and purposes, the land that Israel has been unable over successive attempts, to take over, mountainous as it is in southern Lebanon, to be handed over to them. It is a land grab.
What Hochstein has essentially asked for, is Lebanon’s surrender. He was backed up in these – well they can hardly be called negotiations, because it’s just a demand for Lebanon to concede defeat and territory – by German foreign minister Annalena Baerbock, who is also fanatically pro Israel and is herself on record as saying civilians are not protected by international law if Hamas is near them, a walking reminder that yet again Germany has picked to stand on the wrong side of history.
Lebanon’s response? Well in no uncertain terms they gave it to Lebanese news outlet Al-Akhbar as this excerpt from The Cradle details:
‘A Lebanese official who spoke with Al-Akhbar said, “Hochstein came to intimidate and to spread terror, and he was clear in everything he said that his country and Israel refuse to return to Resolution 1701 in its current form. He said explicitly that this formula is a thing of the past.”
Hochstein said during meetings with Lebanese officials on Monday that Resolution 1701 is “not enough.”
US and Israeli officials told Axios on 21 October that Israel’s conditions for a “ceasefire” include continued ground operations in south Lebanon and unrestricted access to Lebanese airspace.’
Israel want their cake and eat it where Lebanon is concerned and they’re getting told to sod off. That will be repeated in Western media in a negative light for Lebanon, because we know it will be, it’s how our media works right? But the fact of the matter is the demands for a ceasefire are that Lebanon effectively gives up its sovereignty to Israel. They can’t beat Lebanese geography, they can’t beat UNIFIL, they can’t beat the Lebanese Army and they can’t beat Hezbollah. They will continue to strike by air on the likes of Beirut, but Israel is not a serious broker of ceasefires and nether is the US, now seen even more than ever before to be a dishonest peace broker, where you send an Israeli to negotiate a ceasefire deal when his bias is obviously towards one side, more so than we’ve seen before over the past year in any ceasefire talks. What a sick joke the US and Israel really are now.
Speaking of sick, the open air concentration camp that is the Gaza Strip is now looking set to be broken up into lots of smaller concentration camps courtesy of an American-Israeli businessman, looking to not only build such things, but evidently cash in on it too. The fate of the people of Gaza who survive the genocide it seems is an even bleaker one than they had before and again, this has western government backing. It’s sick beyond anything we thought possible in this day and age yet our governments are part of it, Get the details of this frankly horrendous story in this video recommendation here as your suggested next watch and I’ll hopefully catch you on the next vid. Cheers folks.
