What is a kernel in linux?

A kernel is basically the linux equivalent to the hal.dll files in windows. Using mainline kernel installer, I can pick and choose the kernel that brings my laptop at the most peak efficiency for operation where it's not gonna slow down and freeze.

Kernels 6.0 work best on systems that run ddr5 ram and newer processors in the last three years.
