We will now go to 2 Kings Chapter 19:1
“reproach” - blame, discredit, or disgrace
“rebuke” - strong disapproval : reprimand, criticize
“remnant” - a small surviving group — often used in plural
2 Kings 19:3 And they said to him, "Thus says Hezekiah, 'This day is a day of distress, rebuke, and rejection; for children have come to birth, and there is no strength to deliver.
Judah’s situation was similar to that of a child ready, but unable, to be born. Death seemed to be the only prospect.
They were looking at the situation through their very limited power and they were ready to give up. They weren’t even asking the One who is omnipotent for help.
