Two tragic incidents this month involving hayrides serve as warnings about the potential dangers of this popular fall activity.

On October 12, 12-year-old Samuel “Sam” Jessen from Ooltewah, Tennessee, was killed when he fell under the wheels of a tractor during a haunted hayride in Chattanooga while attempting to scare riders.

In a separate incident, 12-year-old Alexander “Xander” Mick of Rice, Minnesota, died after being run over by a wagon at the Harvest of Horror Haunted Hayride, where he was a volunteer.

Both families have started GoFundMe campaigns for medical and funeral expenses.

In response to the incidents, Harvest of Horror canceled its remaining events for the season, Fox News has reported.
