In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul addressed a gross immorality that the Corinthian believers tolerated under the guise of love. Rather than shame, the Corinthian church boasted of its tolerance. Paul left no doubt about what he expected--such wickedness must not be tolerated in the church (1 Corinthians 5:4).
