Three Vehicle Accident, 1 Person Flown, SCHWAB CITY, October 25, 2024 - At approximately 1:40 pm on October 25, 2024, an older model tan Chevy pickup, driven by Edward Simon, 56, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-146. Simon suddenly collided with the driver of a north-bound silver Toyota Highlander driven by Sheila Duckworth, 70, of Point Blank. Duckworth crossed the center line (possibly distracted) and struck Simon's pickup. The impact caused Simon's pickup to roll and come to rest upright on the pavement (Simon's wife, Tammy, was ejected during the rollover and landed on the pavement). After striking Simon's pickup, Duckworth struck a second south-bound vehicle, a silver Chevy Blazer driven by Jeramy Resendez, 39, of Rye (glancing head on collision). The impact sent Resendez's vehicle off the pavement to the right and to the edge of the woodline. Duckworth's vehicle rolled and came to rest upside down on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, a Game Warden, and Troopers Sean Barnes and Damon Zarrati with the Texas Highway Patrol. Tammy Simon sustained serious injuries and was flown from the scene. Resendez and Edward Simon were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Duckworth was physically okay. All traffic on 146 was completely blocked during investigation, flight operations, and cleanup. Duckworth is likely to be cited. Simon's and Resendez's vehicles were recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston. Duckworth's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
