Exciting developments are underway in personalized nutrition therapy! Though still in its early stages, startups like Faeth Therapeutics and Filtricine are pioneering clinical trials to explore the potential of amino acid manipulation for specific cancers.

Faeth Therapeutics is currently recruiting for a trial using non-essential amino acid restriction for pancreatic cancer. Their co-founders even published a fascinating workflow on PubMed, outlining how different diets—like keto, low-fat, plant-based, or fasting-mimicking—can be tailored to a patient’s cancer type and genetic mutations.

Filtricine is also exploring amino acid manipulation, this time targeting prostate cancer.

While we're making strides towards a targeted approach tailored to tumor metabolism, there’s still much work ahead before it’s widely available for all cancers. The puzzle pieces are coming together, one trial at a time.
