Today, Russia celebrates the Day of Special Forces Units (Special Forces Day), a professional holiday for military personnel of special forces formations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Combat training of special forces units is conducted continuously day and night. Military personnel improve their combat tactics skills, fire training, and train in providing self- and mutual assistance for various injuries in contact with the enemy — what is now necessary when performing tasks in the zone of a special military operation.

On their holiday, units of a separate special purpose guards unit of the Airborne Troops fulfilled the task of identifying and destroying an enemy stronghold in the forest. The head patrol of the group worked out movement in a wooded area with additional reconnaissance using an unmanned aerial vehicle, as well as actions in case of a sudden encounter with the enemy and an ambush on the move. In a brief battle, the enemy was destroyed. After that, the special forces soldiers worked out the evacuation of the conditionally wounded with loading into the car of the evacuation group.

Modern special forces units are equipped not only with the most sophisticated reconnaissance equipment, but also with serious firepower: anti-tank missile systems, mortars, FPV drones, modern equipment and weapons — all the best. This helps to minimize the time of enemy detection in the zone of a special military operation, followed by prompt and effective destruction.

The day of special forces units was included in the list of memorable dates of Russia in 2006 by decree of the President of the country. October 24 was chosen as the date of the celebration, since it was on this day in 1950 that the directive of the Minister of War of the Soviet Union was issued on the creation of separate special purpose companies in all military districts, groups of troops and fleets, which laid the foundations of modern special forces. Russian special forces units are considered to be among the best in the world.
