(2017) Fast Radio Burst 121102 ( FRB ) Audio - Processed to clarify sonic details for analysis etc

Work on this began around 2017. Some Breakthrough Listen scientists had posted a news item with some recordings of FRBs (Fast Radio Bursts) that they were receiving... releasing them as a public novelty. The recordings were very noisy, but you could hear the quick "zip" of the FRB going by (they had to slow down the audio a bit to make it a bit more audible). So,.. I thought - "that's interesting.. I wonder what that would sound like if I removed the noise altogether.. and I wonder if there is anything else in there that isn't being heard in the background noise. So I spent time working on it.. and with various means teased out anything that was above the noise floor. My audio is slowed down much further than they did, to catch any detail that might be present.

Some things about the final creation are interesting - a couple of the sounds bear resemblance sonically to the main FRB signal (the descending tone) - so it makes me think.. well, maybe there is at least something here. Some of it is probably only digital artifacts from the processing.. but there are some things that were significantly above the noise floor enough that they weren't filtered out in the processing stages. I am not making any claims. I worked on this for fun, because I am a curious person who is into recording, and space stuff.. and I enjoy "what if's".

Back about 2019(?) NatGeo contacted me about using it for a production they were working on - but I turned it down because I didn't want to imply that I was making any claims. This was just done for the fun of it.
