On May 30, 1974, after a 19-day search, spanning five acres of swampy woodland in Ledyard, Connecticut, the remains of a man and a woman were unearthed, both shot in the head, wrapped in blankets and twine, buried in a shallow grave.

The tale began four years earlier, on December 31, 1970, when the man in the grave Gustavous Carmichael, a 28 year old man from Boston, and his female companion, Linda Sue Childers, were on the run after he robbed a bank in Trenton, New Jersey turning to friends to help before being brutally murdered.

This video was originally going to be about the unidentified remains of Ledyard Jane Doe and a call to action to get her identified, but during the course of working on this video, thanks to the amazing work of Othram and the Connecticut authorities, Ledyard Jane Doe was identified as Linda Sue Childers. While little is known about Linda Sue’s life, this is the story of her tragic death.
