Les Bronzés is a French drama film directed by Patrice Leconte and released on November 22, 1978.

The film's screenplay is an adaptation of the play Love, Shellfish and Crustaceans, a parody of the Club Méditerranée holiday clubs written by the Splendid troupe.

Les Bronzés was a decent success when it was released (2.2 million admissions) and became a classic of French popular cinema over time
1978. Gigi, Jérôme, Christiane, Jean-Claude and Bernard arrive at the Club Med in Assinie, Ivory Coast at the same time. Bernard has come to meet his wife Nathalie, who has already been living in the village for a week. Popeye, sports director, Bobo and Bourseault, hosts, welcome them.

Affinities are immediately formed in the small group where everyone has come in the hope of making new conquests.
Characters
Bernard Morin (Gérard Jugnot): comes to see his wife Nathalie (Josiane Balasko), who has been in this club for a week. Each of the two cheats on his partner, but he does so in an open way, in a form of competition.
Jean-Claude Dusse (Michel Blanc): a clumsy bachelor who came to this club more to meet people than to rest. He was also an enthusiast of music theory and a mediocre harmonica player. He is an orange belt in karate.
Jérôme (Christian Clavier): a doctor. He is constantly disturbed but doesn't waste a minute flirting.
Gigi (Marie-Anne Chazel) is a naive young woman looking for love...
Christiane (Dominique Lavanant): a beautician from the provinces who would like to meet someone.
Popeye (Thierry Lhermitte): his real name is Robert Lespinasse and he is the only one who does not come to the club as he is the annual entertainer. An inveterate flirt, he constantly cheats on his wife but cannot stand her having an affair and sometimes lacks self-confidence.
Bourseault (Michel Creton): a comedic host who enjoys making all the participants laugh. He is the only character to meet a tragic end (he dies, stung by a stingray).
Bobo (Luis Rego): another host whose real name is Georges Pelletier. He will not appear in the next two parts.
Marius (Guy Laporte): the village chief.
Miguel Weissmüller (Martin Lamotte): another animator who gives drawing lessons.
The man in black underwear (Bruno Moynot): a vacationer whose reasons for coming to this club are quite mysterious. He never has fun and is always angry.
