Matthew 20:1-34

In this 20th chapter of Matthew, Jesus Christ teaches His disciples about the heavenly perspective: God has the absolute right to show mercy to anyone or give a position to anyone. And Jesus Christ had mercy on the blind man who cried out for mercy. Hallelujah!

God has mercy on anyone, he has mercy on that person. That is His right. And today, we Gentiles have received mercy from God. We have a joint inheritance with His people. Not because of our goodness, but because of God's mercy towards us. So we should be grateful for His grace and live worthy of being those who have received that grace.

Greatness in heaven is not determined by how many people accept or respect us in this world, but by how much our lives in this world are like Jesus's. Jesus was humble, he was selfless, he obeyed his Father in everything. How did he obey? He obeyed the Father to the point that he had to die for all of us on the cross.

My dear brothers and sisters, how can we apply the 20th chapter of Matthew to our daily lives? Let's share and learn the words of God together and make them come true in our lives. "The God who is full of mercy, He gives mercy to those who want to receive mercy from Him."

In the book of Matthew, the story of the first and last is elaborated. Jesus Christ gave the example of the parable of the workers in the vineyard and taught the disciples who wanted to be the first to sit next to His throne that the one who will be the greatest is the one who serves others.

✝️✝️ The parable of the workers in the vineyard shows that God's grace is available to everyone, which is a joy for everyone. However, it turned out that the first worker was jealous of the last worker.

Therefore, instead of the first worker being proud of working hard and rejoicing with others who received good things, it turned out that the first worker was criticized by his employer for being jealous.

Instead of being the first person who received the most honor, he became the one who received the least honor.

We should be glad when we see people being saved and walking in God's way and receiving God's blessing.

At the same time, We must be careful that once we have entered God's way, we continue to walk in God's righteousness all the way to God's way until the day of the final reward.

✝️✝️ Jesus Christ told his disciples for the third time that he would be crucified on the cross and on the third day he would rise again.

But it turned out that the disciples did not seem to believe what Jesus Christ said. We can see this from when Jesus rose from the dead, when the women came to tell him, no one believed.

What God's word says, whether we know it or not, believe it or not, will eventually happen and come true. But if we do not believe it, God's word that tells us will not be able to help us when we face various situations in life, just like the disciples who were so sad and hopeless when they saw Jesus Christ die on the cross. If they had just believed what Jesus said, that He would rise from the dead on the third day, the disciples would not have had to suffer so much during that time.

Today!!! My brothers and sisters, if we just believe in what God's word promises, we will not have to suffer so much sorrow, the suffering that we are facing now, because we believe that God will not forsake us, He will not leave us to face problems alone, and He will always have a way out for His children. Just trust in Him, follow His words with all your might

✝️✝️ James and John sent their mother to ask Jesus for a position in advance, which in the Bible, their mother was probably Salome.

✝️✝️ In Mark 15:40 it says:
[40] Now some women also were watching from a distance, among whom were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome. [John 19:25]

She asked for her son to be on her right and the other on her left. Jesus told them that they did not understand. They did not know where Jesus was going or what he was doing. He was going to be crucified. Are you sure you want to be on his left and the other on his right at Golgotha? And they answered in confusion, "Yes, Lord."

Then Jesus Christ told them that yes...one day it will really happen. In the future, they will die for His gospel.

✝️✝️ James and John thought that success was wealth and worldly status. But Jesus taught them that true success is humbly serving others, sacrificing yourself for others. Because that shows that we love Christ and we care for Christ.

True honorable service is Not when there are many people raising their hands to worship, but when we have the opportunity to serve many people. Today!! In the ministry of the brothers and sisters, who have you served?

✝️✝️ At the end of Matthew chapter 20, it talks about Jesus, the Messiah, whom the Jews call the Son of David, serving two blind men. One of the two was named Bartimaeus. The supporting text is

✝️✝️ Mark 10:46 AMP
[46] Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar, Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road [as was his custom]. [Matt 20:29-34; Luke 18:35-43]

When they cried out to Jesus Christ for help, people rebuked them because they thought that these blind beggars were not worthy of Jesus' attention. Jesus did not think so. Instead, He paid attention to them and ministered to them by healing them.

My dear brothers and sisters, Jesus not only taught, but He also set an example.

Today!!! How many of you have practiced what you told or taught others? Jesus taught that He came to this world to serve. Therefore, when you call out to God, when you call out to Jesus Christ with a sincere heart, like the two blind men, He will listen and will quickly come to your rescue. Please believe His promise.

May this word be true in our lives: "True spiritual maturity is measured by humility, willingness to serve others."
