On the night of October 21, a bright fireball was observed streaking across the skies over Lake Erie, visible from parts of the U.S. and Canada.

The American Meteor Society received over 550 reports of the meteor, which was tracked moving from northeast of Cleveland, Ohio, to just west of Erie, Pennsylvania, around 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Witnesses reported seeing a light green object with yellow and golden sparks trailing behind it, with sightings spanning nearly 400 miles, from Philadelphia to Madison, North Carolina.

Meteor scientist Peter Brown shared a video of the event, noting that it ended at an altitude of 30 km north of Ashtabula, Ohio, likely dropping meteorites into the lake, Space.com has reported.
