Magician 250 Chain BROKE!

10-23-2024 just a couple hundred miles after I made the last video, the 40k review vid the chain ups and breaks on me LOL! to be fair i was looking at the sprockets to determine when to change the 'set' as a whole but it turns out the chain doesn't last as long as the sprockets so that was a bad idea. You live and learn, i have stated many times i have never been trained or went to school for this so i'm winging it all the way. when the chain broke i was doing about 15mph, the chain wrapped around the wheel axle and locked up the wheel causing it to skid. not a problem since no one was behind me (luckily) if this had happened to me on a minor highway doing 50 to 60mph this could of gone very bad as a car might of hit me. so changing the chain out is a good idea, the internet is saying to change it out 10 to 20k miles, so riders beware! change those chains when needed don't wait for it to break!

anyway i decided to change the new chain out at about 25k miles (my choice) since the old chain lasted 41k. not recommending anyone do as i'm doing but i put the new chain on my old (original) sprockets to get added life and use from them since the rear sprocket costs so much more than the chain itself. i will update on this video to let you know how it turns out, but i have about 200 to 400 miles on it so far and it looks okay so far.

the chain on the Magicians are 428 HEAVY DUTY which means they are about 2mm thick links as oppose to STANDARD chain using 1.5mm links. if you gotta go cheap with the chain and decide to use standard chain then you might want to change it out at 10k miles. just sayin'

don't forget to buy a sturdy durable chain breaker to make life easier and maybe even having a few extra chain master quick links on hand BEFORE you need to replace the chain.

i will be buying a cheapo chain breaker to carry with me on my Magician with a couple of links and master links and even gloves to do an emergency repair if my chain should break again. when i buy the cheap chain breaker i will make a video of that of me breaking a chain to confirm it will work, i do have heavier chain breaker KIT but i feel it's too heave to keep on my bike but i will show it on the video when i make it.

Disclaimer: I am not a certified motorcycle mechanic, this video is me showing what I did to keep my motorcycle on the road. I in no way saying this is the proper fix or the only fix. If in doubt please take your motorcycle to a certified motorcycle mechanic and or a proper motorcycle repair shop.
