Power of Prayer verse:
1 JOHN 5:19-20 KJV
19) And we know that we are of God and the whole world lieth in Wickedness;
20) And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

1 JOHN 5:19-20 NIV
19) We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.
20) We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true–even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God

PRAYING THE NAMES OF GOD:
Week #2: EL ROI
THE GOD WHO SEES ME
Understanding the Name:
In the ancient world it was not uncommon for an infertile wife to arrange for a slave girl to sleep with her husband so that the family could have an heir. In fact, Ishmael, the son born to Abraham and Hagar, would have been considered Sara’s legal offspring. Hagar and Ishmael might have fared better had Hagar not forgotten her place the moment she learned of her pregnancy. Still, Sarah’s treatment of her seems inexcusable and harsh.

In the midst of her difficulties, Hagar learned that EL Roi (EL raw-EE) was watching over her and that he had a plan to bless her and her son. One of Abraham’s grandsons, Esau, married Ishmael’s daughter, and it was the Ishmaelite traders (also referred to as Midianite merchants in Genesis 37:26-28), themselves descended from an Egyptian slave, who transported his great-grandson Joseph into slavery in Egypt.
