The daughter of the Nawab Pataudi Akbar Ali Khan, Shaherbano Begum, authored her life story at the request of her classmate, Miss Fletcher. This autobiography covers her life from birth to the age of forty. Although Shaherbano Begum was not highly educated and made spelling mistakes in her writing, her style of expression is remarkably simple & charming, reflecting the common vernacular of her time. Additionally, the autobiography mentions the hardships faced by her family following the 1857 War of Independence. It has been compiled by Dr. Moinuddin Aqeel, who also wrote the introduction, excerpts of which will be read and shared in today’s session."
