Hyperthermia: Heating Up the Fight Against Tumors🔥

Did you know that some of the breakthroughs in using hyperthermia to treat human cancers come from pioneering work in treating sarcomas in dogs?

* In 2000, Dr. D.E. Thrall and his team published research showing that local hyperthermia—targeting tumors with temperatures between 41-43°C—could significantly improve tumor destruction. 🌡️🔥

* Why sarcomas? These rapidly growing tumors, much like those in humans, outgrow their blood supply, making them vulnerable to heat. By applying localized hyperthermia, the tumors absorb the heat, enhancing the effectiveness of treatments like chemotherapy and radiation.

* Not only does this approach help destroy the tumor, but it also protects surrounding healthy tissue and improves prognosis.

Big thanks to the University of Tennessee for pushing this research forward and helping us learn how to harness heat to target cancer effectively.
