Marion Maréchal is the daughter of Yann Le Pen, the granddaughter of the Front National founder Jean-Marie Le Pen and the niece of Marine Le Pen, the party leader of the Rassemblement National. According to her mother, the diplomat, journalist and spy Roger Auque, who died in 2014, is the biological father. Samuel Maréchal, Jean-Marie Le Pen's former campaign manager, who was married to Yann Le Pen from 1993 to 2007, recognized Marion as his daughter. At the age of two, she was pictured on an election poster for the Front National in the arms of her grandfather. She grew up in a gated community in the Paris suburb of Saint-Cloud. She went to a public school until the third grade, and finally switched to a private, Catholic-traditionalist girls' school for "security reasons". One of her classmates was Madeleine de Jessey, later a politician for the conservative Républicains and leader of the protests against same-sex marriage.[3] She completed a master's degree in public law at the University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas), which she completed in 2012.

At the age of 18, she joined the Front National. She unsuccessfully ran for public office for the first time in the 2010 regional elections, coming second on the FN list in the Yvelines department. In the same year, she added her mother's surname to her surname, becoming Marion Maréchal-Le Pen. On June 10, 2012, she came first in the first round of the French parliamentary elections in Carpentras (Vaucluse department), known as an FN stronghold, with 34.6 percent. In the second round, she was elected with 42.09 percent of the vote, ahead of Catherine Arkilovitch of the Socialists and the previous conservative MP Jean-Michel Ferrand (UMP), who held this office for a total of six legislative periods. At the age of 22, she became the youngest member of the National Assembly of the Fifth French Republic. She was one of two members of her party (alongside Gilbert Collard) in this legislative period until 2017.

After Marine Le Pen's defeat in the presidential elections in May 2017, Marion Maréchal-Le Pen announced her retirement from politics. Observers saw this as an intention not to be drawn into an open power struggle with her aunt. After her temporary retirement from politics, she founded the private university Institut des sciences sociales économiques et politiques (Issep; Institute of Social Sciences, Economics and Politics) in Lyon in May 2018. She has been director of the institute since then, which had sixty students enrolled in 2019. In May 2018, she dropped the Le Pen suffix from her surname. In the 2022 French presidential election, she made public her support for the far-right candidate Éric Zemmour and accepted the position of vice president in his party Reconquête. She thus turned away from her aunt Marine Le Pen, who was also running for office. She headed the electoral list for Reconquête in the 2024 European elections and was elected as a member of the European Parliament. Shortly after the election, she was expelled from Reconquête by Zemmour because she wanted to negotiate an electoral alliance with the Rassemblement Nationale without consulting her party.
