In this continuation of the sermon titled “Stand in the Gap!”, we delve deeper into the authority and power God has given us as believers. Jesus declared in Luke 10:19, "Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you." We are called to stop our minds from settling in wicked areas (Matthew 6:31, Proverbs 18:20-21, Matthew 12:37), guarding our thoughts and words against anxiety and negativity.
The grounds for our authority in Christ are deeply rooted in our identity as heirs and covenant partners with God (Romans 8:16-17, Hebrews 8:6). As believers, we are seated in Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), equipped with the same dominion that Jesus restored to humanity. This authority empowers us to overcome the enemy's schemes and live out our divine calling (John 10:10, John 14:12).
Finally, we explore how divine intervention is always working on our behalf. No weapon formed against us will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and the Lord is faithful to protect us in times of trouble (Psalm 20:1, 2 Thessalonians 3:3). As we stand in the gap, we are reminded that God is always present with us, offering His peace and power through every storm (Matthew 8:23-27).
