Canada's national anthem is "O Canada." It was originally written in French in 1880 by Adolphe-Basile Routhier (lyrics) and Calixa Lavallée (music) for a Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony in Quebec. The English version, which differs from the original French text, was created in 1908 by Robert Stanley Weir.

"O Canada" was adopted as the country's official national anthem in 1980. The anthem’s lyrics express love and patriotism for the country, with themes of protection, freedom, and the beauty of the land. In recent years, the English lyrics were slightly modified to be gender-neutral.

The French version of the anthem focuses more on the preservation of faith and freedom. Both versions are frequently performed during national ceremonies and events in Canada.
