27. Jesus Calms the Storm, Again! (Mark 6:45 - 52)

In Mark's second story of Jesus calming a storm, he discloses the inner perspective of experience. In the first account ( (4:35-41), the storm seemed to be diabolical, an attack by evil power. In this account, we discover that even the storm is ultimately fully within the power of Christ. He walks on the water, in the storm, as if it were a dog on a leash. Here we learn that we are not only protected in the storm, but that the storm itself is intended for our good.
