As of Sunday, nearly 1.01 million North Carolinians have voted in the November general election, according to the North Carolina State Election Board.

A total of 1,008,123 ballots have been cast, including 916,433 through in-person early voting, 77,831 via civilian absentee voting, and nearly 14,000 by military or overseas voters.

This turnout represents about 13 percent of the state’s 7.8 million registered voters.

Karen Brinson Bell, the executive director of the state election board, expressed gratitude to election workers for their efforts.

The board recently faced a lawsuit regarding digital IDs for voting, which was dismissed by state judges, and experienced ballot distribution delays due to the removal of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the ballots following a successful lawsuit, The Hill has reported.
