At least two dead in New Mexico from severe floods after record rain

The New Mexico National Guard is conducting search and rescue operations in Roswell after record rainfall caused severe flooding.

At least two fatalities have been reported, though details about the victims remain unclear. Since Saturday, over 300 people have been rescued, with 38 individuals hospitalized for injuries.

The National Weather Service recorded 5.78 inches of rain on Saturday, breaking a 122-year-old daily record.

Rescue efforts continue as more rain is expected, with 57 guard members deployed and equipped with vehicles capable of navigating 4 feet of water, The Guardian has reported.
