Real Candidate of the People?

Today saw another study in contrast between two Presidential candidates, each one trying to be “The Candidate of the People.” Donald J. Trump won that contest, beyond dispute. Not content with complaining about Vice-President Kamala Harris possibly embellishing her life story, he actually did the thing he insists she said she did, but didn’t. And what was that thing? Short-order cooking and taking orders in a fast-food joint! It’s the most common “first job” for teenagers and young adults – and the very sort of job the incumbent administration is causing to disappear. It is the job Kamala Harris said she once did – and Trump just tried his hand at it. While that’s happening, Harris’ allies are assuring her leftist base that she is not moderating. That could become her fatal flaw.
Candidate Kamala turns chameleon
CNAV reported, nearly six weeks ago, that Kamala Harris was changing her positions to win an election. No less an authority than Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) actually told the people that, on NBC’s Meet the (De)Press(ed).
Q: To describe Vice President Kamala Harris as a progressive, she has previously supported Medicare for All. Now, she does not. She previously supported a ban on fracking. Now, she does not. These, Senator, are ideas that you have campaigned on. Do you think she is abandoning her progressive ideals?
A: No, I don’t think she’s abandoning her ideals. I think she’s trying to be pragmatic and doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election.

This morning the Senator said it again, to CNN’s Jake Tapper on State of the Union:
TAPPER: Kamala supported the Green New Deal, Medicare For All, and a ban on fracking. Is she making a mistake reversing those positions?
BERNIE: What we are seeing is a coalition of people, more establishment democrats and progressive Democrats and progressive Independents… come together with a goal of defeating a very dangerous candidate and that is Donald Trump.

Sanders didn’t actually answer the question Jake Tapper put to him. But from his earlier answer to NBC’s Kristen Welker, one can infer Sanders’ actual meaning. If she is not “making a mistake,” then she is lying to the American public, and Sanders is seeing fit to assure the “progressive Democrats and progressive independents” that she has not changed her positions.
This should surprise no one. These three posts show her policy positions five years ago.
I know politicians lie, but Kamala Harris side by side on banning fracking, when she ran for president in 2020 & now, is honestly staggering. It’s not just that she said she would ban fracking, it’s that she cited her baby nieces as the reason.

Kamala Harris says if Congress does not pass the $93 trillion Green New Deal that she will take over the Senate as President and eliminate the filibuster to ram the agenda through.

Those were her positions four years ago, and those are her positions today, no matter what she says.
But this summer she said something else: that she literally worked her way through college, at McDonald’s in Alameda, California. But she never mentioned that until this summer, according to The Washington Free Beacon. Even when she applied for a clerking job with the Alameda County District Attorney’s office, she didn’t mention the gig on her application. The person who owned that McDonald’s franchise in 1983 (the year in question) won’t comment, and neither will the McDonald’s Corporate office.
Absence of evidence is not always evidence of absence – but Trump apparently checked.
We have checked with McDonald’s, and they say, definitively, that there is no record of Lyin’ Kamala Harris ever having worked there. In other words, she never worked there, and has lied about this “job” for years. Additionally, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden are killing franchises, want to end all franchises, which will destroy values and jobs. Also, remember, from me, No Tax On Tips!

Trump actually works at a McDonalds
Obviously seeing an opportunity, Trump arranged to work a shift at a McDonalds in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania today. Jordan Conradson at The Gateway Pundit had full particulars. His plane landed at 1:00 p.m. EDT, and he quipped, “Next stop, McDonalds.”

After this gig, Trump went on to address a packed house in nearby Lancaster.
So who is the real Candidate of the People?
Again: this day has seen a study in contrast, between a real “candidate of the people,” and a cheap imitation. Worse than that: while Kamala Harris can’t make up her mind whether to avow or disavow her positions of four years ago – and the policies of the incumbent administration – Trump is connecting with the people in a way she never has, and likely never could.
Of course, Trump’s selection of a fast-food joint in Pennsylvania is no accident. Most pollsters agree: Pennsylvania is the new Ohio, in that who wins Pennsylvania, wins the election. Donald Trump made that happen, eight years ago.
More to the point, Trump proved today why he packs them in, and Harris doesn’t. And this time, unlike last time, even the polls are starting to reflect his enhanced standing.
