Courtney Cox Returns for Scream VII | Franchise Moving on Without New Cast

It has been announced that Courtney Cox will be returning to the Scream franchise in the seventh film in the series that’s set to be released in early 2026.

The Scream franchise has been going through a bit of a shift following Jenna Ortega’s decision to step away, and Melissa Barrera getting fired for antisemitic posts. Previously series star Neve Campbell chose not to appear in the sixth installment after a contract dispute with the studio. By that point Spyglass Studio tried shifting focus to the new younger cast. However, Jenna Ortega did not want to continue and demanded a huge amount to stay knowing the studio wouldn’t agree. Melissa Berrera who had already signed on was fired citing antisemitic social media posts, but it was likely because the studio didn’t know what to do with her character by herself. Bringing back Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox is a return to form for the franchise that may work for the franchise even if younger audiences aren’t happy.
