Born in the middle of the 19th Century, Robert Louis Stevenson--as we know him--wrote primarily of tales of adventure of both fictional characters and himself in a discovery of the world. Scottish, Stevenson found refuge in reading and writing as a child because of a lifelong debilitating breathing disease.
With a background in writing young adult adventure tales, Stevenson ended up writing the ultimate gothic story in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde novella. It was a strange case, indeed, where this poet and prose adventure writer found this tale of subterfuge, terror and villainy.
