This Week’s Lesson

We are in Lesson-09 in the series “Rebuilding on the Solid Rock” from the book of Ezra.

This is Volume I of our series: “After the Exile” a study of Ezra-Nehemiah-Esther.

The lesson is titled “The Good Hand of Our God – Part I” and our focus passage is Ezra 7.

Please find your way in your Bible to that passage.

The LORD used the prophets Haggai and Zechariah to stir the Jewish exiles to resume and complete the Temple rebuilding project.

We saw how the work of Temple restoration was completed after a long pause. It took a prophetic word; a recommitment to God’s priorities, and finally it ended with a joyful celebration.

We should always remember that with God’s stirring and power we can overcome any opposition and succeed in doing His work.

In today’s lesson we will begin our study of Ezra 7-8.  Just like Ezra 5-6 were connected, chapters 7-8 are connected in one unified narrative.

These two chapters begin to detail the work of Ezra on behalf of the returning Israelite community. It begins with Ezra leading a 2nd wave of Exiles back to Jerusalem.

We pick-up the story from Ezra 6 and it’s about 60 years after the Temple rebuilding project was completed (515 B.C.).

Let’s get started.
