How to FIX Corrupt MP4 Video Files 👑 EASY & FREE (MP4/MOV)

How to fix broken, corrupt, truncated, and unplayable MP4 or MOV files using a free program called Untrunc.

If you are a gamer, you have probably experienced the horror of your 3+ hour gaming video resulting in a broken MP4 file 😱

Or perhaps you are a videographer or content creator and after recording a new video for 7 hours you find one of your clips is corrupt 😱

HAVE NO FEAR - UNTRUNC IS HERE 🦸

Untrunc is a free app on GitHub (trusted site) that can fix broken MP4/MOV files as long as you have a good/working reference clip.

A "Reference Clip" will be a video file that was recorded (or has) the same or similar specifications. It doesn't need to be the same length, but the a similar data rate, codec (H.264, H.265, etc...), Resolution, etc...

If you are fixing a clip recorded with a camera, just use any other clip that was recorded with the same camera settings.

If you are fixing a gaming video, use another video clip that was recorded with the same settings in OBS, Streamlabs, RECentral, etc...

All you have to do is select the Reference File (working video clip), then select the Truncated File (broken/corrupt video clip) and click Repair 👍

If you receive an error, go to the Settings Tab and select the "-s" modifier (Skip Unknown) and click Repair again.

There are also other modifiers you can play with if you are not getting what you want.

After a few seconds to a few minutes your video clip should be fixed - it will have the same name with "fixed" appended to the end.

Sometimes the fixed files will have a few glitches here and there, or the audio may not be in sync across the whole video, but you can always fix that in your video editor.

If you don't have a video editor, get the free version of Davinci Resolve.
