Footage is Silent
This archival video shows unedited footage on the transfer of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights from the Library of Congress to the National Archives on Dec. 13, 1952.
Unedited footage on the transfer of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights from the Library of Congress to the National Archives on Dec. 13, 1952. The documents are taken from the Library, loaded into an armored vehicle, escorted to the National Archives in a procession of servicemen, veterans, tanks, and bands, and taken into and placed in the Archives Exhibition Hall. On Dec. 15, 1952, State and national flags are presented by servicemen and President Truman, Senators Green and Williams, Chief Justice Vinson, and the Chaplain of the Senate speak at the unveiling of the documents. The elevator safe housing the documents is shown in operation.
