** Psalm 62 is a psalm of David, written during a time of intense pressure and adversity. David expresses his deep trust in God as his rock, salvation, and refuge, despite facing lies and attacks from those around him. The psalm reflects David’s unwavering confidence in God’s protection and justice, highlighting the futility of relying on human power or riches. It serves as a reminder to trust in God alone, to seek refuge in Him, and to pour out our hearts before Him in times of distress. The message of Psalm 62 continues to resonate today, offering encouragement to rest in God’s steadfast love and mighty power.

Original Text (Psalm 62 - World English Bible)
For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm by David.

1 My soul rests in God alone.
My salvation is from him.
2 He alone is my rock, my salvation, and my fortress.
I will never be greatly shaken.
3 How long will you assault a man,
would all of you throw him down,
Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
4 They fully intend to throw him down from his lofty place.
They delight in lies.
They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
5 My soul, wait in silence for God alone,
for my expectation is from him.
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress.
I will not be shaken.
7 With God is my salvation and my honor.
The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people.
Pour out your heart before him.
God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9 Surely men of low degree are just a breath,
and men of high degree are a lie.
In the balances they will go up.
They are together lighter than a breath.
10 Don’t trust in oppression.
Don’t become vain in robbery.
If riches increase,
don’t set your heart on them.
11 God has spoken once;
twice I have heard this,
that power belongs to God.
12 Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness,
for you reward every man according to his work.

Lyrics to "Rest My Soul Blues"

(Verse 1)
My soul rests in God alone,
My salvation comes from Him.
He’s my rock and my salvation,
My fortress—never shaken within.
They plot to bring me down like a wall,
But my trust in God makes me stand tall.

(Verse 2)
How long will you crush a man,
Like a tottering fence about to fall?
You bless with your mouth, but curse deep inside,
Behind your lies, there's nothing at all.
But my soul waits in silence, calm as the night,
For my hope is in Him, my strength, my light.

(Bridge)
God has spoken once, and twice I’ve heard:
Power belongs to Him alone.
His love is steady, His justice is sure,
He rewards all men for what they’ve earned.
With Him is salvation, mercy and might,
In the dark of the storm, He’s my guiding light.

(Verse 3)
Men of low degree are just a breath,
And the rich are nothing but a lie.
In the scales, they rise up like air,
Together lighter than the sky.
Don’t trust in riches or schemes of men,
For in the Lord, true wealth begins.

(Outro)
Pour out your heart before Him,
He is our refuge in the night.
My soul rests in God alone,
In His love, I’ll never lose sight.
With God, I stand firm, never overthrown,
My salvation, my rock, forever known.
