Alabama executes man who killed 5 and asked to be put to death

Derrick Dearman, convicted of killing five people during a drug-fueled rampage in 2016, was executed in Alabama after dropping his appeals and asking to be put to death.

Dearman, 36, admitted to the killings, which took place after he broke into a home where his estranged girlfriend had taken refuge.

In his final statement, he asked for forgiveness from the victims’ families. The victims included a pregnant woman and four family members, NPR has reported.
