Today is part 2 of the Manson Family. Last week, we went over the official story that was left out in the public square and covered with questions. Today, we are talking about deeper questions that need answers.
Why did Bugliosi push the Helter-Skelter theory so heavily, and what impact did it have on the trial’s outcome? Was this narrative the best way to secure a conviction, or did it oversimplify the case and leave out more important elements?
Bugliosi argued that Manson chose the Cielo house to “instill fear” in Melcher, as Susan Atkins said. But if Melcher were with Manson after the murders, where was the fear? And, most importantly: What were these additional meetings about? Maybe Melcher knew that the Family was behind the murders…
