Semi-fanning a single action revolver

Semi-fanning a 6” single action Heritage Rough Rider.

Full fanning in my mind is holding down the trigger and repeatedly cocking the hammer, whereas I feel “semi-fanning” as cocking the hammer with the off hand and only then pulling the trigger, resulting in far quicker shots compared to standard shooting, while relieving some excess stress to the firearm.

I believe this is how the gunslingers of the old west would’ve done it.
