M. Craig is happily married, now retired and enjoying life at her own pace. She found her way into writing thanks to the nudging (bordering on forcing) of high school English teachers. Recognized as a poet by the Poet Laureate of Oklahoma during her college days, she eventually shifted from poetry to try her hand at a short story.

In the days when online writers' chats were still a thing, M. Craig frequented them for several years, finding value in bouncing ideas off others. When she proudly shared her completed short story, "Shatosa," the unanimous demand was, "Where's the rest?" This pushed her to “finish it.”

Throughout her writing journey, she’s reminded of Truman Capote's wisdom shared with Merv Griffin: in fiction, you either experience it yourself or research the heck out of it.
