for the end metaphor, goku has 3 cities in a triangle shape and 2 have roads between them and he needs to put the last connecting road (relationship) between them, vegeta has all 3 roads but only 2 cities and needs to build up a whole new city (concept)
they'll be about equal when they're done, and the vegito/gogeta fusions represent how they're two sides to the same coin/ways of approaching the same destination, trunks and goten turning into gotenks is the immature version of that dual aspects combination
