US says it opposes scope of Israeli air strikes in Beirut

The U.S., Israel’s closest ally, expressed opposition to the scope of Israel’s recent airstrikes in Beirut, amid a rising death toll and fears of escalation involving Iran.

Israeli military incursions in southern Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah, have displaced over a quarter of the population, according to the UN.

While some Western nations push for a ceasefire, the U.S. continues to support Israel, sending anti-missile systems and troops, Asia One has reported.
