Saint Teresa of Avila was born in Ávila, Spain on March 28, 1515. She was the third child of Don Alonso Sanchez de Cepeda and Doña Beatriz Davila y Ahumada

Saint Teresa was a Carmelite nun founded the Discalced Carmelites, a new branch of the Carmelite Order. She is known for her spiritual writings, including The Interior Castle, and was named a Doctor of the Church in 1970. Her feast day is celebrated on October 15
