La Llorona's story is a mix of myth, legend and maybe real people. It's hard to tell, she's become a blend of personalities and stories. At the crux of all those stories is a woman who scorned who drowns her children in a fit of despair of anger. Now she wanders along lakes and rivers wailing and searching for her own lost children. Some stories say she won't go to heaven until she finds her children, some it's a curse. The are also stories from around Latin America, that she was killed by her husband. When approached by solicitous men she become a ghastly ghoul of some kind. Reguardless she is a harbinger of death and misfortune. If you're lucky enough you might be able to change it. If you're not,... maybe keep away from mysterious women in white.
