20240503 154939 Final Video of Birthday Eating

As far as I knew I have been the only one feeding #Birthday daily. There was a young woman and her mother that used to feed both her and #Buddha daily, but all indications were that they had moved out of the neighborhood but perhaps were feeding them both perhaps during a weekend visit.

Knowing that my moving out of state was going to happen, we started trying to find a permanent home for her given her very uncertain future. We were thrilled to find such a home after about two months about ten miles away with a gentleman that has a single family home where (always hopefully) she'll be an indoor-only companion. He's a friend of a friend and has previously had at least one cat in the past and is fully aware of the ways in which Birthday may be different from other cat(s) that he's had before, and seems very happy to be her new best friend.

We did not take any video of her "capture", which was easy because I pick up and snuggle #Birthday daily before she typically rolls around on the sidewalk and I then feed her.

I will miss seeing her daily very, very much but while sad, I am at the same time extremely happy that she now has a stable home in uncertain conditions and uncertain times.

Unless I get footage of her from her new owner, this will sadly be the last video that I will have of this dear, dear sweet girl. We're not sure if we can arrange a reunion with her at her new owner's place, but if it can be arranged, I hope to be a part of it. If it doesn't happen before I move out-of-state, then it might not happen, but if everyone else is fine with that, then that's ok also. If I do get to see her again, of course it will be an emotional time for me. For as many years (6-9?) as she's lived here on her own and remained so friendly and (generally) upbeat, I cannot be happier about her present situation. I hope that she'll live a long and healthy life given her many years struggling on her own, which tends to nearly halve the lifespan of average outdoor cats.
