The **axolotl** is an extraordinary amphibian native to Mexico. Known for its unique ability to regenerate limbs, spinal cords, and even parts of its brain, this aquatic creature never undergoes full metamorphosis, retaining its larval features throughout life. With feathery gills protruding from the sides of its head, it breathes underwater and can reach up to a foot in length. Axolotls come in various colors, from brown and black to pink and albino, making them a fascinating sight. Unfortunately, they are critically endangered due to habitat loss, pollution, and invasive species in their native lakes.
