I saw exactly this while growing up in NYC of the 60's and 70's.

1. Change last names to Anglo ones.

2. Plastic surgery and cosmetics to look more Anglo.

3. Moved next to and into private schools, clubs and communities of the wealthy WASPs, not of the poor whites.

4. Aimed their children to marry the WASP children, usually the ugly heiress daughters of money, Chelsea Clinton types.
