Psalm 28 - A Prayer for Protection and Mercy. In this psalm David's plea for mercy and protection from God. The theme of the psalm is the combination of mercy, justice and protection:

Mercy
David asks God for mercy, and expresses his trust in God's providence.

Justice
David asks God to punish evildoers for their wickedness, and to repay them for their evil deeds.

Protection
David asks God to protect him from his enemies, and from God's judgment of his enemies.

Confidence
David expresses confidence in God's protection, and encourages others to embrace it as well.

The psalm concludes with praise for God's mercy in answering David's prayer.
