David Benavidez Stops Beterbiev Says Sean Zittel of Fight Hype

Artur Beterbiev did the impossible and beat Dmitry Bivol in a close majority decision victory this past Saturday night in Saudi Arabia. Beterbiev was a +120 underdog.

He's coming off a surgery to fix a meniscus tear in his knee. And he's 39 years old. So, it's understandable why he would be the underdog in this match up. Bivol is 6 years younger than Beterbiev. And he was looked upon as the better boxer.

This was a classic old school 50/50 high stakes fight. I loved the fact that Turki Alashihk made this fight happen. In the aftermath, fans who picked Bivol to win felt like the fight was a robbery.

But Dmitry Bivol doesn't feel this way. But Eddie Hearn and Bivol's manager, Vadim Kornilov, said he will be filing an official protest over the outcome of the fight.

Specifically, the 116-112 score from judge Pawell Kardyni. Apparently, he cant take the L. Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev are mentally tough and went through hell in this fight.

This is what boxing is all about.

Only nine men have held all four versions of the belts at the same time, three of whom have been the only male boxers to have done so in two divisions.

1. Bernard Hopkins unified all four middleweight titles in September 2004.[*]
2. Jermain Taylor won all four middleweight titles from Hopkins in July 2005.[*]
3. Terence Crawford unified all four titles in two weight classes—light welterweight in August 2017 and welterweight in July 2023.
4. Oleksandr Usyk unified all four titles in two weight classes—cruiserweight in July 2018 and heavyweight in May 2024.
5. Josh Taylor unified all four light welterweight titles in May 2021.
6. Canelo Álvarez unified all four super middleweight titles in November 2021.
7. Jermell Charlo unified all four light middleweight titles in May 2022.
8. Devin Haney unified all four lightweight titles in June 2022.
9. Naoya Inoue unified all four titles in two weight classes—bantamweight in December 2022 and super bantamweight in December 2023.
10. Artur Beterbiev unified all four belts on October 2024 to become the 10 fighter in the 4 belt era to become undisputed champion.

Riyahd season has been spectacular for boxing. The Eddie Hearn curse is real. Dmitry Bivol didn't make any excuses, and he admitted that he didn't perform to the best of his capabilities.

Artur Beterbiev said the same as well. But on Boxing Twitter, Sean Zittel from fight Hype said he believes David Benavidez will stop Artur Berterbiev. Now I totally disagree with Sean's opinion in this matter.

From a stylistic stand point. There's nothing about David Benavidez that tells me he'll stop any top 10 Light Heavyweight at 175... let alone the undisputed King in Artur Beterbiev.

Let's look on X and see what the fans have to say about Sean Zittel's post.
