My son had just turned six when he did this video with me. He came up with the idea really; we are so conditioned to do subtraction one way from the time we are young but rather than go with the status quo, the creative and unencumbered mind of a six-year-old was able to teach an old dog a new trick. We share how to use negative numbers to do subtraction - left to right - in this video, which flies in the face of conventional wisdom of subtracting right to left and borrowing from the tens place, the hundreds place, etc. Use it or don't. It just makes more sense to us.
