An on-the-ground look at Israel's 'Dahiya doctrine'

The "Dahiya doctrine" is an illegal, Israeli military strategy involving the large-scale destruction of civilian infrastructure, or 'domicide'. The doctrine's goal (which invariably fails to materialize) is to pressure governments and resistance groups to submit to Israel's aggression.

The doctrine was first championed by former Israeli Chief of General Staff Gadi Eizenkot. Eizenkot is currently a Minister without portfolio in Benjamin Netanyahu's far-right regime.

Dimitri Lascaris is currently in Beirut, Lebanon. In this report, he examines the effects of the 'Dayiha doctine' in the very city from which the doctrine derives its name.

Today (October 13, 2024), Lascaris visited a neighbourhood in Dahiya which Israel bombed several days ago.
