Historic church in Chile reduced to ashes in devastating blaze

A tragic fire destroyed the San Francisco Church in Iquique, a historic landmark and Chile’s first Catholic church. The blaze, which erupted at the mostly wooden structure, overwhelmed twelve firefighting units despite their efforts.

While there were no reported fatalities, the fire’s cause is under investigation.
