Polish inventor prof. Aleksander Sieroń won the Grand Prix at the fair in Brussels. Prof. Aleksander Sieroń from the Medical University of Silesia received the Grand Prix on Saturday - the most important award of the invention fair in Brussels. Prof. Sieroń was honored for his innovative method of treating legs, thanks to which patients have a chance to avoid amputation. The Grand Prix for young inventors will be brought from Brussels by students of the Technical Secondary School in Jastrzębie Zdrój. The 63rd World Fair of Inventions, Scientific Research and New Technologies BRUSSELS INNOVA 2014 ended in the capital of Belgium on Saturday. Krzysztof Turowski, head of the Trade and Investment Promotion Department of the Polish Embassy in Belgium, announced the distinction for the Pole.

Sieroń came to Brussels with an innovative device that helps in the treatment of chronic wounds of the feet and lower legs. Oxybaria S, as the device is called, is a combination of "bacteriostatic ozone treatment and improving local oxidation with hyperbaric oxygen."

Thanks to this method, the healing rate of chronic wounds, especially leg ulcers, increases. This provides a chance for a better standard of living, among others. for diabetics. The Grand Prix for young inventors will be brought from Brussels by students of the Technical Secondary School in Jastrzębie Zdrój, who have developed a system for remote power management of devices and communication for disabled people.

Thanks to their invention, completely paralyzed people can control computers, lighting and communicate with their caregivers, even if they are not at home. The system is not manufactured on a commercial scale; is created in school laboratories and sent to those who register at the facility.

The jury of over 90 people who assessed all inventions included specialists from the industries presented at the fair.
