In the event of the Council on Foreign Relations in January 2018, Joe Biden bragged about his role in the firing of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.

Biden, described an event of having helped secured the $1 billion IMF-U.S. loan guarantees for Ukraine while he was the USA-VP back in March 2016. He then told the Ukrainian President at the time, Petro Poroshenko, the loan would be rescinded if Shokin was not immediately fired.

However, Shokin was the prosecutor of a case involving a Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, which was under investigation.

Meanwhile, Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden, was sitting at the board of Burisma, one of Ukraine’s largest natural gas companies; as such, it caused questions about Biden's role at the time.

According to reports of witnesses' accounts, Joe Biden had never visited Ukraine for company business during that time.
