A Pole and his invention may revolutionize airports around the world. The Pole's invention has the potential to revolutionize airports around the world. The system designed by Sławomir Malicki will help reduce fuel consumption, reduce the number of accidents at airports and increase the punctuality of aircraft. ATS, or Airplane Transporting Systems, is a new way of managing aircraft traffic on the airport tarmac. After landing, each plane must cover the distance from the runway to the airport, which can be several kilometers long at the largest airports in the world. Same thing before taking off. During this time, the plane, operating with its engines running, burns several tons of aviation fuel. Multiplying it by the number of take-offs and landings at each airport, it turns out that on an annual basis this is a gigantic amount of fuel and a lot of money for the airlines. Sławomir Malicki decided to automate this process. In the ATS system, it is not the pilot who guides the plane along the taxiways, but an electric platform with a drive located under the surface.

After landing, the plane would drive the front landing gear wheels onto such a platform and - with the engines turned off - would be automatically towed to the appropriate sleeve in the terminal. Sławomir Malicki mentions - reduced fuel consumption, lower CO2 emissions, possibility of reducing the number of ground staff, increased airport capacity, reduced risk of an accident on the ground.

- Accidents of taxiing planes are a real nightmare for the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration in the USA - editor's note). Practically every day, somewhere in the world, such a collision occurs. Most often, they do not end tragically, but they are very expensive and burdensome for both the airport, the airline and the passengers - explains Malicki.
