Erased, Banned, Hidden Why Black Culture Must Know Its History

In this episode of the Broken Traditions Podcast, we dive into the importance of learning our own history and taking responsibility for it. Banned books, libraries, and schools might limit our access to some stories, but that’s no excuse for not knowing our history. I was inspired by a banned book called Ebony and Ivy, which reveals Ivy League schools' ties to slave trading.

My personal mission is to break away from the excuses that keep us from understanding our past and celebrating Black excellence. That's why I'm launching the Broken Traditions Online Book Club. Our first book, American Sirens by Kevin Hazzard, uncovers the untold history of Black paramedics, and it's a story every Black person should know.
